Palestine Drinks Funds Lifesaving GBS Treatments for 100 Patients

Palestine Drinks today announced that medicines and essential equipment sufficient to treat 100 patients with Guillain‑Barré syndrome (GBS) have been successfully delivered to Gaza via the Egyptian border. The effort was planned and executed in close collaboration with PalMed Sweden, a partner to the World Health Organization (WHO).

GBS is a rare autoimmune condition that can rapidly damage the peripheral nervous system, causing progressive weakness, sensory changes, or paralysis. With timely diagnosis and access to appropriate therapies and supportive care, many patients recover; delays, however, can lead to prolonged disability and death. The newly delivered medicines and equipment will enable frontline clinicians to stabilize patients, manage complications, and support recovery in settings where supply lines remain fragile.

WHO’s update for Gaza, Sept 10 2025, Gaza notes an estimated total hospital bed capacity of ~2, 206 (including 71 ICU beds) as of 10 September 2025, alongside over one hundred suspected GBS cases this year and IVIG at zero stock, underscoring the urgency of replenishing supplies.

Working through the Egyptian border ensured a viable humanitarian corridor at a time of heightened logistical constraints. In partnership with PalMed Sweden coordinated procurement, transport, and handover to approved medical facilities, aligning with established humanitarian procedures and clinical priorities communicated by teams on the ground.

Every can our customers choose is a direct aid for measurable relief,” said Mohamed Kiswani, Head of Communications at Palestine Drinks.

“This shipment means at least 100 patients facing a severe, rare neurological condition will receive the specialized care they urgently need. We are deeply grateful to everyone who chose Palestine Drinks, and to our partners at PalMed Sweden for making this mission possible.”

“Timely access to appropriate therapies is critical for GBS-days can make the difference between full recovery and death” said Dr. Mohammad Althaher, spokesperson for PalMed Sweden. “As an WHO partner, PalMed Sweden helped coordinate the supply route via Egypt and align deliveries with local needs so that medicines and equipment reach the clinicians who can use them immediately. We thank Palestine Drinks and its customers for turning solidarity into practical care.”

Palestine Drinks extends sincere thanks to its customers and to all operational partners who were instrumental in this project. The company reaffirms its founding commitment: 100% of profits are directed to humanitarian and development projects that support vulnerable people in Palestine.
